Ryan Vickers is building for his return to the ZYN British Superbike Championship this season and is now eager to head to Oulton Park for the final R&G Official Test next week (April 21/22) with the Honda Racing UK team following a positive test at Donington Park.
Vickers ended the opening R&G Official Test fourth overall on the combined times, just 0.409s adrift of the pace-setting lap of Max Cook, completing race run simulations and building on the work the team completed during their initial tests in Spain.
Vickers: “Overall I am really happy with how the Donington Park test went; we started off day one up inside the top four or five for most of the day in the different sessions. At the end of each session, we lost a few positions as most people put new tyres in, but we just focused more on the set up and the longer distance runs on the tyres.
“On day two we made quite a big step with the bike and I got the feeling back that we had in Spanish testing, still not quite got it all back, as I had a slightly better feeling out there, so there is still some work to do but overall I am happy as we were showing good pace.
“Overall I am happy after the Donington Park test, the team are working great. We still have a few areas to work on, so we will head back to the workshop, look at the data and figure some things out, and see what we can bring to the Oulton Park test.
“Donington Park wasn’t one I thought we would struggle at, as it is a fast and flowing circuit, and not so much of the typical BSB track. But it will be my first time back at a BSB style track like Oulton Park for the next test, so I am really looking forward to getting there and seeing what the bike is like there and how I adapt there.”
