Cook ready for AJN Steelstock bimota race debut at Oulton Park

Max Cook is ready to debut the AJN Steelstock bimota in this weekend’s opening round of the ZYN British Superbike Championship after a positive pre-season testing programme.

Cook made a dream debut with the new bimota KB988 Rimini Superbike at the opening R&G Official Test after an initial shakedown in Europe, topping the times and ending the final test at Oulton Park in seventh place overall.

Cook said: “I think we hit the ground running straight away, which surprising me quite a bit as I thought it would take a bit of time to get up to speed on the bimota, but so far it’s working really well. I believe that we’ve got a really good bike underneath us to do a really good job this year.

“I’m looking forward to round one, but to go back to the testing it was really good. We followed all the steps that World Superbikes used to develop their bike, and we changed a lot of things to lead up to the end product. Because we’ve managed to change things over the few days that we had it made me and the team understand the bike, what does what, and if we ever run into any trouble throughout the year we understand the bike.

“We kind of built up to it nice and steady and I’ve got a good feeling with the bike totally, it’s how I like it and I don’t think we’ll be moving too far away from that. So far testing has gone really well and I’m excited for round one.”
