Oli Bayliss continued his winning streak this afternoon as he beat Jack Kennedy to the Feature Race win by more than two seconds.
After victory yesterday, the Australian started today’s 14-lap race from pole position, ahead of Luke Stapleford and Kennedy, after Kennedy’s Honda Racing UK team-mate Dean Harrison was given a three-grid spot penalty after an incident during warm up.
At the flag, Stapleford flew off the line and caught up to Bayliss into the first corner, but Bayliss was able to hold the spot.
Fellow Aussie Jack Mahaffy was also quick off the line and shot up to second position but it didn’t last long, as he made a mistake moments later and had to run off, losing about a dozen positions.
Harry Truelove was now sitting second as Bayliss eked out a lead of more than a second in the opening lap, but this came down substantially in the next few laps as Kennedy passed Truelove to move second and set off to catch his rival.
On Lap Seven, Kennedy made a move and hit the front but it didn’t last and the Triumph was soon back ahead of the Honda and from there, he managed to gap his rivals enough to bring it home without any real trouble.
Instead, the battle became about second place as Stapleford closed up on Kennedy and made a move on the penultimate lap. Kennedy, however, wasn’t entertaining it and came back through, eventually taking second, 2.342secs behind winner Bayliss.
Stapleford was third as Truelove finished in fourth place and Oliver Barr fifth.
Once again, Cam Swain dominated the Cup action, finishing p14 overall. Ben Tolliday finished second in class with James Alderson third.
