Championship leader Luke Stapleford pipped Jack Kennedy to the FP1 top spot by just 0.001secs in this morning’s opening free practice session.
Honda Racing UK’s Kennedy had initially looked to have the FP1 in hand as he led quite a bit of the session – but Stapleford, who arrives at Round Five with a 36 point lead over Ben Currie in the standings – wasn’t wasting any time in signalling his intent for the weekend.
The Scars-Racing Ducati rider clocked a best lap of 1min 27.906secs on his 13th lap, ending the session 0.001secs ahead of Kennedy.
Lee Johnston was third quickest with Oliver Barr fourth, as Currie rounded out the top five aboard his McAMS Yamaha.
Adam Hartgrove proved to be the quickest of the Cup riders, ending the session p18 overall as Cam Swain was second fastest with James Alderson third.
