Ben Currie managed to hold off a charging Oli Bayliss to cling onto pole by a mere 0.009secs this morning.
The McAMS Yamaha rider was able to see off late pushes by both Bayliss and points leader Luke Stapleford to head the grid in this afternoon’s Supersport Sprint race.
With a best lap of 1min 27.454secs, Currie was sitting comfortable at the top of the timesheets with just a minute to go as both Bayliss and Stapleford upped their pace.
Stapleford, who led the way on Friday, was sitting fifth but managed to move up to third on his final lap, seconds before the flag fell.
Bayliss, meanwhile, had one final push in his last lap but despite a few quick sectors, couldn’t overturn Currie, ending the session 0.009secs adrift.
Jack Kennedy was fourth to head Row Two for this afternoon’s race with Currie’s team-mate, Harry Truelove, fifth.
In the Cup, Adam Hartgrove stayed in control, finishing highest placed in class and p19 overall, with Cam Swain second and Keo Walker third.
