1pMobile National Junior Sportbike Championship: Mackenzie takes a double win to boost points lead

19 July 2026

Marley Mackenzie stretched his championship lead this evening as he beat Luca Hopkins to the win in the final race of the weekend at Brands Hatch.

Ben Jolliffe started the 10-lap scrap from pole but it was Laken Payne who emerged fastest in the opening lap as he hit the front and led for the first few laps.

Mackenzie, despite a slow start, quickly began reeling in his rivals and on Lap Three made a move for the lead. Payne tried to defend but couldn’t stop the Kirkcaldy Kawaski rider flying past.

On Lap Four, Hopkins went from fourth to second with moves on Jolliffe and Payne and closed in on Mackenzie.

He sat behind him for the remainder of the race, but was never able to find a way past, eventually settling for second, 0.313ses adrift of Mackenzie.

Jolliffe was third, 2.590 seconds behind Hopkins, as Mason Johnson took fourth place and Lewis Mullen fifth.
