The AJN Steelstock bimota team were able to complete a positive final day of pre-season testing on track at Monteblanco in Spain, following a weather disrupted second day at Portimao this week as Max Cook and Joe Talbot adapt to the new Superbike.
The team completed an initial day at Portimao, before rain hampered the second day, but undeterred AJN Steelstock bimota moved to Monteblanco alongside Honda Racing UK and DAO Racing Honda to complete a final day with the KB998 Rimini Superbikes.
Cook said: “I’m back home now after a really good day at Monteblanco. It was an absolutely amazing day on the new bimota Superbike. I really enjoyed myself, I think the bike suits me perfectly, It’s got all the characteristics that the ZX-10 has but it’s even a little bit better, I didn’t think it could, so we’re really getting on well with it.
“I was going out and progressing and going faster and faster, so I’m really looking forward to the season now. I was a little bit nervous over the winter because it’s an all-new bike for BSB, so now those worries are at rest and the fact that guys over at bimota World Superbikes are developing this bike constantly, means it’s going to only get better from here. I want to give a massive thanks to my team AJN Steelstock bimota for this testing, especially so we could all stay out for the extra day, which was really worthwhile doing.”
Talbot said: “We were starting in Portimao, but we didn’t get to do many laps so the team made the decision to drive to Monteblanco so we could spin some laps in the sun. It was really good, I got as many laps in as I could and that’s my plan - to just to keep on learning the bike and getting as many laps in, develop and learn. I’m really excited to get to the Donington Park and Oulton Park tests now.
“A big thank you to the AJN Steelstock bimota team for making the decision to go to Monteblanco and give us the time on track.”
