MasterMac Honda’s Irwin and McManus make Superbike debut with shakedown test

06 March 2026

Hawk Racing’s Rhys Irwin and Eugene McManus had their first taste of the MasterMac Honda today (Friday) at Mallory Park with a shakedown test as the latest rookies prepare for their debut ZYN British Superbike Championship season.

Irwin and McManus had the first opportunity to get acquainted with the Superbike after they both stepped up from the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship, with Irwin the reigning champion in the class and McManus a podium finisher.

Irwin said: “It has been an absolutely unbelievable day today, so a massive thanks to Steve and the team for getting me out, that is a massive box ticked for me – my first day as a British Superbike rider and I couldn’t be happier. It has been unbelievable to work with the team and everyone and a great start to the year. I really can’t wait to get started now with everything coming up and I can’t wait to get going.”

McManus said: “I had a great day getting my first go of the year on the Superbike, my first time riding at Mallory Park too which was good. Thanks to Hawk Racing and everyone in the MasterMac Honda team for today. We look forward to getting more testing in now in preparation for 2026.”
