Pirelli British Sportbike Championship: Davidson keeps his cool to take third win on the bounce

16 May 2026

Alfie Davidson continued his winning streak in the opening Sportbike race of the weekend as he beat Zak Shelton by almost half a second.

Carl Harris was fastest off the line to hit the front as the lights changed as Davidson dropped back to third. But it didn’t take the poleman long to regroup and he was ahead by the end of the opening lap.

Davidson controlled the race for the next few laps but further back, Zak Shelton was flying through the pack and by Lap Five was running second. He hit the front a lap later but couldn’t hold Davidson off for long and the points leader was back ahead a lap later.

However it was far from over and soon Harley McCabe came into play, taking the lead on Lap Seven before Davidson came back ahead on Lap Eight.

The battle raged all the way to the flag at the end of 12 laps but Davidson stayed in control at the front to take the win, with Shelton second, 0.405secs behind. McCabe was third with Harris fourth and Dawson fifth.
