Rhys Irwin scored his first points in the ZYN British Superbike Championship last time out at Donington Park in only his sixth race in his debut season with the MasterMac Honda team.
Irwin, the reigning Quattro Group British Supersport champion, has been building momentum during the opening two rounds and cumulated in claiming three points for 13th place in race three, and feeling positive about the upcoming round at Knockhill (June 19/20/21).
Irwin said: “Overall, it was a really solid weekend at Donington Park and a big improvement from Oulton Park and I feel like I am getting a little more comfortable with being a Superbike rider, to be honest probably both on and off the track which is good. I think I am still very much in my adapting phase riding a 1000 never mind a Superbike, so every session and every lap is really valuable.
“All weekend the team were fantastic and they have been unbelievable as I am trying to be like a sponge as much as I can and try to soak up as much as I can from them; I am very lucky to be with such an experienced team, all that has been brilliant.
“I just need keep learning as much as I can and Knockhill is up next, which is the closest thing I get to a home round! To be honest I am looking forward to getting going as I feel like if I can make another step like I did between Oulton and Donington, keep working away, we can keep making steps and keep progressing.”
