Barry Burrell and Nikki Coates were victorious in their respective Heat races ahead of tomorrow’s Main Race.
Heat One proved to be a Burrell whitewash, as the defending champion and points leader obliterated the pack.
Hitting the front from pole position, he had almost two seconds in hand by the end of the opening lap, leaving the rest to battle it out for second and third.
Bobby Varey and Christian Smith swapped places a handful of times over the eight laps, with Josh Wainwright also coming into play. At the flag, Burrell eventually won by 5.655secs as Varey just pipped Smith to P2 by 0.194s as Wainwright was fourth with Liam Vella fifth.
In Heat Two, polesitter Nikki Coates dropped to P2 at the start when Kieran Smith flew past but was quickly back ahead before the end of Lap One.
The pair stuck close together for the full eight laps in a race which was a battle of two, after Josh Corner had another crash from P3 on the third lap.
It came down to a last lap battle as Smith pulled a move and fived down the inside, only for Coates to come straight back.
The pair were side by side as they headed towards the line, with Coates taking the win by 0.024secs from Smith with Jack Tynan third, James Higginson fourth and Lee Devonport fifth.
