Bobby Varey has taken his second successive Main Event win after Nikki Coates crashed out from the lead on the final lap.
Varey started from pole but it was ROKiT Rookie Jack Tynan who got the holeshot to lead the opening lap. Coates, who had started sixth on the grid, had also got a strong start to move into second position.
After a few attempts, Coates found a way past Tynan which stuck on Lap Three – as behind, Varey was closing in, catching him up steadily and making a move to hit the front on the penultimate lap.
Coates stole the place straight back as they hit Turn One for the final time but disaster struck for the LDC BMW by Frimley Pits Racing rider seconds later as he lost the front and crashed out.
This gave Varey a clear road to the finish line to celebrate win number two ahead of Kieran Smith. Tynan was third with points leader and defending champion Barry Burrell -this weekend nursing a shoulder injury – fourth and Christian Smith fifth.
