Biography

Tom Sykes is a Superbike World Champion, claiming the title in 2013 and returns to the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this season with the team he has previously raced earlier in his career.

Sykes began his career in the British Supersport Championship, where he narrowly missed out on the title to Cal Crutchlow, who went on to compete in MotoGP, in 2006.

He then competed in the British Superbike class for two seasons claiming multiple podiums and wins, finishing fourth in the overall standings in 2008.

He then moved to the Superbike World Championship in 2009, before moving into the Factory Kawasaki team for the next nine seasons.

Missing out on the WorldSBK title by half a point in 2012, he was finally able to secure the world title in 2013. Several years more of consistent race wins and pole positions followed.

He made the move to factory BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team in 2019, where he proved he was capable of fighting at the front with a rival manufacturer.

An injury ended his World Championship campaign last year, but he makes his much-anticipated return to BSB in 2022, and his debut with the Ducati factory.
