Kyle Ryde topped the opening morning of the R&G Official Test at Oulton Park for OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing as the Bennetts British Superbike Championship teams and riders continue their preparations for this weekend’s second round of the title fight.
Ryde had been heading the top of the timesheets, but on his final lap before the lunchbreak, he was able to set his best lap of the session, which put him 0.438s clear of his teammate and championship leader Ryan Vickers.
Jason O'Halloran leapt up into third place for the Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki team in the closing ten minutes before lunch, putting him just 0.006s ahead of Peter Hickman who led the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad Team charge in fourth place.
Glenn Irwin was fifth fastest on the Hager PBM Ducati with Leon Haslam completing the top six on the ROKiT Haslam Racing BMW Motorrad M 1000 RR. Josh Brookes maintained his position ahead of Danny Buchan on the DAO Racing Kawasaki with reigning champion Tommy Bridewell and Billy McConnell completing the top ten for the C&L Fairburn Properties/Look Forward Racing Honda team.
