Neil Hodgson began his career in schoolboy motocross before winning the British 125cc Championship title in 1992, which catapulted him onto the World Championship stage.

The Burnley-born rider then moved into the 500cc World Championship in 1995, finishing in eleventh place in the final standings, before a year later making a switch to the World Superbike Championship. 

Hodgson remained in the World Superbike Championship until he made his return to British Championship action in BSB in 1999 when he finished fourth in the title fight, teamed up at GSE Racing with Troy Bayliss who won the crown.

A year later and Hodgson was victorious in his quest for the BSB title following a titanic battle all season long with archrival Chris Walker as the pair clashed on more than one occasion during their battle of supremacy.

Their tussle for the British title was one of the fiercest in the history of the championship and remembered as one of the most memorable in the history of the series.

Hodgson then moved back into the World Superbike Championship, finishing third in the standings before celebrating title success in 2003 with Ducati. 

A stint in MotoGP and the AMA Championship in America followed, before Hodgson looked set for a return to Bennetts BSB. However injury ruled him out of a return and he retired from competitive racing and now appears on the UK coverage of MotoGP.
